Large star that was gone in the same night

Around 7:30 pm a large and very bright star was seen in the Western sky. Several of us stared at it to try to figure out what it was. It was not moving. It appeared to be a large mysterious star.

I left to do some grocery shopping and when I returned about 20 minutes later and it was GONE.
