Bright color changing light

I went outside for a smoke when I noticed a bright green light in the sky (to the south.) My neighbors were also outside at the same time as me and approached me asking if I saw the thing in the sky.

They told me there were two at first, but when I got outside there was only one. It was a very bright light that was changing colors. It would change from red to blue to green and would move up, down, left, right, in circles, etc.

The movements were unlike any aircraft's movements I have seen.

After they went inside, I stayed outside watching the sky, and after a few minutes after it disappeared, I saw a bright flash on the horizon.

I also noticed a lot of planes flying in the direction towards the flashing light.
