Group of seven lights in triange formation, silent & disappearing.

Sitting on the back porch with the family as I looked up toward the East, North East - I noticed a tight group of 7 lights (one at the apex, with 3 on each side) a few hundred feet in the sky. Silent, no noise. I could not distinguish a body to the craft, although I also could not say for certain there was not one. It was difficult to tell, as it only lasted maybe less than 2 or 3 seconds. Maybe less so. It was traveling away from me in the same direction I was looking. As it disappeared (and not into the horizon, it just faded into nothing all of a sudden) Where I had seen the lights, for an ever shorter duration there was the translucent distortion you would see when looking at hot asphalt from a distance or the after burner of a jet, etc... Very strange. I would like to see it again. Also, the lights were white, with a hint of yellow. More of the yellow hint as they faded into the clear translucent-type effect I described.
