split sec flash of light to a light glow ,then it would move.,

I Was watching night sky about 20:15 hrs over North Sacramento (some clouds in the sky).I was observing planes leave Sac Intl when I thought I saw a flash of light. As I was watching other planes in lower air space, I thought I saw a flash of light again, so I just wached the area where I thought I seen the flashing and to my surprise it flashed for split second then to a light glow.it did this for about 30sec moving just a bit untill a 747 from SF came by. Then it followed behind aircraft flashing only for split second. I followed it NE until I could not see it any longer. This was not normal aircraft lightning, just supper white light.
