Bright red light appeared in different locations, bled into itself and then vanished.

I was looking East out into the ocean (under the nearly full moon) and saw a bright red light. It disappeared, and re-appeared several times but in slightly different locations.

It then looked like the light was bleeding or leading into the other appearances; and then it was gone.
