Characteristics: Lights on object, Changed Colo

The objects were approximately 2 miles off the coast and I'd guess 5,000 feet above the ocean. Two lighted up first next to each other. They turned bright orange and then poof, went out.

About 15 minutes later 5 or six of them all lighted up at the same time and put on quite a show.

We figured they must be military but we agreed it was very strange.

Any explanation?
