Hiking the descent of the Amethyst Lake hike at approximately 6:30 PM looked up to a clear blue sky with no clouds. Witnessed either a square or cylinder-shaped object hovering motionless approximately 2,500 to 3,000 feet in the air to the north of the trailhead. Watched the object for roughly 30 seconds. The object then immediately disappeared. The object had sharp edges with maybe a very slight glow or reflection.
