Non-airplane like object in the sky above Indian Ocean. Flashing lights. Disappeared and reappeared.

On 3rd April, 2018, at 14:20 UTC Time, In approximate position 0 54.0E 088 08.6E in the Indian Ocean, 500 miles from the nearest land the object had been observed from the merchant vessel.

First seen at altitude about 15 degrees above horizon. Object attracted attention due to unusual flashing lights from red to white along the whole body of the object which didn’t look like any airplane observed previously in the night sky. It was hard to tell whether the change of lights color was flashing type or turning in circle from side to side.

The most interesting thing was that the sky was 100% clear without any clouds, so after observing for about two minutes, the object simply disappeared in the clear sky, and then reappeared again with the same characteristics.

Unfortunately, there were no any pictures taken. The object appeared to be quite far. After it attracted my attention, I continued to observe it by using the binocular. Otherwise I couldn’t see at least those details that I have seen.

I mean, when on the ship during the long ocean passages, it’s quite interesting to look at the night sky, stars etc. I’m quite sure I can make a difference between airplane, and what I’ve seen last night. What’s the most interesting is that it disappeared completely for some time, even though I’m sure the sky was clear of any clouds.

There was one more witness though, the guy who was keeping watch with me, he’s Filipino. And he agreed with me that he saw the same thing.

But there’s one more thing. Approximately in an hour after I submitted this report, I’ve seen exact same object heading in the same direction, but it appeared to be quite further away, again I was observing it with binocular. They both were heading towards NE direction. From our position this could lead them somewhere to Thai or Chinese coast.
