Ottawa, looking west, saw a bright light and through a telescope saw it was a horseshoe shape.

Looking west, I could see a very bright light up high in the distance. I took stock of my surrounding stars (I knew where to see Saturn and Jupiter at this time as I look at them often with my telescopes) and this was nowhere near them. I ran to get a small telescope and managed to lock on to it. From my telescope, I saw a horseshoe shape made up of various colored lights. I left my post for a moment to check on my young kids and when I returned to look again, it was gone.

p.s. I later went back out to see if I could find something and saw something boomerang shaped (diffused amber light) move slowly across the sky (East to West) but could not catch it with my telescope.
