Light moving erratically in a northwesterly direction over Lexington, VA

Well past dusk, saw a star twinkling and noticed it immediately jogged off in another direction...then zig-zagged again! It continued to 'zig, zag' very erratically but moved generally in a northwesterly direction. There were moments when it seemed to rotate as the light it was emitting became stronger, then weaker as it changed direction. It was generally moving within a range of speed (no darting)...

It is overcast weather conditions, so it must have been at or below the cloud cover. as it proceeded northwest, I lost it in the cloud cover.

The entire length of time it was visible to me upon noticing it was approximately 3 minutes.
