Red and white lights hovering over the Secor Rd area

My friend had just given me a ride home and i was walking to the front door of my fathers apartment building and noticed the red and white lights in the sky, side by side forming a cigar like shape in the sky, flying over what looked to be the direction of Secor Rd in mahopac, where there is a lake at the bottom of the neighborhood. They circled in the air for about 5 minutes, not crossing paths with each other, causing me to believe it was one craft, but the pattern of flight was too erratic to be a normal plane or helicopter, and there was no propeller or engine sounds emitting from the craft, and after a while, the lights began to spin at a faster rate, and then shot off to my left, flying in the direction of the town of peekskill, and disappeared into the horizon.
