Long cylinder, reflecting sun, moving at high rate of speed.

Saw strange cloud formation above while watching jets climbing after taking off from airport and other jets descending to land. I noticed something shiny moving in the clouds. Upon observation I realized it was a long cylinder moving at a high rate of speed through the cloud formation, actually appears to pass a commercial jet. I got my friend to look and two other people walking by. We all saw it and no one could explain it or the strange cloud formation. We watched until it was completely out of sight over the Atlantic ocean.
None of us had our phones or cameras to take pictures.
