Light moving very fast and turning direction very fast then disappeared.

We were looking at satellites, shooting stars, and stars in general, I saw a shooting star (i thought) so I pointed it out to my friend, he looked up and 2 seconds later it did a “U” / “V” turn while not losing speed, and then it went higher and disappeared immediately.

This might be completely unrelated, but 30-40 min after, I saw a very bright star, pointed at it, when my friend looked up we both saw it dim up and disappear.
