looked like A very very bright Venus in the northern sky

A very very bright Venus like object in the northern sky. It was a beautiful and warm night and the sky was clear and we were looking at the big dipper and I was showing my wife and friends on one of my star apps where the north star was located As we all looked at the north star suddenly a very bright star like light appeared. It was stationary for approximately one minute and then disappeared. Not a plane! not a planet or star!
