I saw an orange squashed football shape with a very irregular texture moving east to west slow enough too see some detail.

I finally decided to report what I saw in march 1966. I was eating pizza watching TV with my brother when the phone rang. My mother picked up the phone and called out that it was for me. I picked up the phone and it was a close friend that lived a mile north of me. He said he had spotted an unusual craft to his southeast. He asked me to go outside and look for it. My brother and I rushed out into the front yard. Just to the north of us was an orange glowing football shaped object slowly moving across the sky. We watched it until it was out of sight. It had a very rough texture and glowed a little more red in the center. There was not a dome or projection on top. The object was totally silent.
