Light similar distant car driving down a mountain west direction and then shot north to horizon in a second 90 degrees

Three males 19-20 were parked in a car in the dark in a paddock with no lights or houses anywhere facing east chatting and listening to music and having a beer. All were sober. It was the time there was no chat and there was a light similar to a car in the distance coming down a mountain in a straight line. Nobody had mentioned anything about it but everyone noticed it but never said anything until it turned direction north and hit the horizon in a second. There were no shapes or lights similar to a car headlight, just a small light that blended in with stars but it was descending around 45 degrees. It did not look to be close but larger than the stars. We drove out to the airport to check but nothing could travel that fast to the horizon. We lived in a small town 1979 and nobody really cared but thought it may add to sightings etc.
