Large orb with flashing lights

I was a child and excited to see Halley’s comet. There was only a few days where it would be visible in Maine. For a few nights I woke up at the times it would be most visible, sometime before dawn. One morning I woke up and looked out the window and there was a large orb in the sky but it looked like the sky but also round (hard to explain- kind of like a large convex mirror in the sky). Suddenly the “comet” flashed on the north side with the head of the “comet” pointing to the top of the orb. Then the “comet” disappeared and reappeared in counter clockwise positions all the way around the orb. When it had flashed all the way around the orb, the whole thing disappeared. No flash, just gone. The “comet” light was white, starlight color, like you expect to see of a comet through a telescope. I was very excited about seeing the “comet” even though it didn’t make sense what I saw. I excitedly told my Dad and he said the comet doesn’t look like that, it’s small. The following night or early morning, I did see Halley’s comet and I was deeply disappointed because it was a small still-looking thing. Not at all like what I had seen the evening before. No one I ever told the story to believed me. I have 2 more stories to enter as well and will add them separately.
