Bright light hovering for a long time

As I was goint to bed the night was cloudy and very windy, I looked outside the second floor window in our house and saw what I though was the light of a plane far over the North East side of Downtown Denver ( I live in Aurora South East) after a few seconds I noticed that there was no movement of the light to any direction and I decided to call my wife. The light was very low in the horizon maybe 10 degrees up, she came and we both stay for a while looking at the light. Then it started to move down very slow and stay hovering at a lower altitud for much longer. We went to bed and it was still there.
