Lots of aircraft and huge orange ball.

I was out on the deck and heard about 6 or 7 aircraft. They were circurling. and then I saw a moon size orange fire ball just above the hill and the aircraft were circling it and then it disapered. the aircraft were still flying around and the sound kept getting further and further away.
