Light hovering, started moving, then turned at 90 degree angle before leaving at high rate of speed

Light hovered in western sky as I drove home from work. I thought it was Venus. Will at a stop sign,and looking at the light, it moved north for a short distance and then turned at a 90 degrees. it then sped off.
