Moving Formation of Orange lights in the sky

My Husband & I were traveling about 2 miles onto Beaver Creek Road from Huntersville, WV, when we saw several bright orange lights atop a ridge. Thinking at first it was lighting from a house on the mountain. After a moment we realized the lights were not on the ridge but above it, it the sky. There were about 6-9 lights, orange like the color of fire. As we drove down the straight, they began to change from a rectangular formation to almost a candy cane formation, then to a "V" formation and began to move away from us. I tried to get video on my camera, but in our excitement/bafflement, didn’t get anything conclusive on camera. We continued to drive and lost sight of the lights. Neither of us has EVER seen anything like this before. They were huge, way too big to be a luminary or something like that.
