NUFORC Sighting 88579

Occurred: 2012-04-21 22:35 Local
Reported: 2012-04-21 22:59 Pacific
Duration: 15 seconds
No of observers: 2

Location: Portland, OR, USA

Shape: Orb
Characteristics: Lights on object

Point of light heading SE in trajectory disappeared completely as if it receded into space, leaving orbit on a ballistic trajectory.

My husband and I were building a fire in our yard and while i worked on getting wood together he asked me to look at a point of light he saw moving in the sky. His vision isn't as good as mine and he asked me to see if the light had any red lights or was blinking like an airplane. I moved to where he was and saw a moving light heading from NW to SE. I then stepped away from the fire to get a clearer look. As soon as I locked on the light, it seemed to slow up and get smaller. It continued to slow nearly to a stop and the light diminished until it disappeared entirely in front of my eyes. It was looked the way a star would look if it were receding. We ruled out several options including a possibly supply launch to MIR.
