Orange Fireballs fly over Las Vegas

I came across your website (amongst others), while trying to research what I call "stringed fireballs". It appears as if I am not the only one who has seen them, however I see no reports of this in Las Vegas yet.

I was on my way home last night and I made a right turn onto a surface street (facing north) and saw the orange lights flying in the sky. Others were slamming on their brakes and I assumed a speed trap, but they had seen them as well. I didn't get a count of them but I personally saw 10-15 of them. They were about a football field apart, were orange and flickering like a flame. It didn't appear to look like any type of aircraft light to me, and there were no standard red/blue lights on the wings like normal aircraft have.

They flew slowly, but seemed to change direction rather quickly. They were moving as if they were connected by an invisible string. Half of them rotated, as if they were pivoting on the center light, and the other half pivoted the other way, pivoting on the center light. The lights quickly changed from a straight line to almost a letter V, but not perfect like you would expect from military.

I assumed perhaps it was after-burner light coming from a military plane, so I rolled down the window in my car and sat there. I heard absolutely nothing. Everything was completely silent, other than road traffic.

It was the strangest thing I have seen in a long time. Las Vegas is the home to Nellis Air Force Base, so I thought maybe it was something coming from there. But I am thinking that this is unlikely as the circumstances were too odd.
