Extremely fast multiple colored lights, constantly moving and stopping back to its place of origin.

An unknown flying object that was seen from my back yard, it had seveal blinking lights (Red, Blue and white)and can move so fast that all your eye can see is a blur, its going up, down, around in circles, back and forth, diagonally and than it just stays in the exact same spot for minutes without moving at all.

there were what i could tell were planes around the area, and it looked like they were leaving and commming back ever so often, like they were circling and observing the object.

I attempted to take video, but all i got were the lights.
