White streak in straight, horizional path. Head turns yellowish then red then dissappeared/disintegrated.

I was sitting in my backyard which overlooks a ravine and was facing west.

A long, straight white line caught my eye travelling roughly south to north in a straight horizontal line. There was a trail, and the head turned yellowish then red then disappeared.

Don't know if it was a meteor or what.
