Our Close Encounter with a saucer shape disc in Northeast Ohio in 1980 On Oct. 28, 1980, while my sister and I were taking our nightly walk, we were approached by a disc shaped saucer, flying from the north eastern sky. We had noticed what we thought was a single engine plane stop in mid-air, and go backwards. We continued our walk when the craft appeared above us where we stood and watched it lower itself right above us. It was a black metallic saucer shape disk with bright light directly in the center of the craft. It made no sound and seemed to just want to observe us. After many minutes the craft "flipped" and zoomed away in a streak towards due west. We continued our walk when the craft came back and hovered over us as before. It would zoom away due west and come back to us several times. We didn't feel threatened for some reason and welcomed this strange occurrence. After about two hours, we went home and discovered we had missed the debate. Between Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter who were in Cleveland that night. Days later a local Cleveland reporter came to our house and explained that another group of teenagers walking home from basketball practice on the west side of Cleveland were witnessing the same thing, simultaneously. The speed of the craft took mere seconds to go from the Northeast where we were to the west side, an hours drive by car. The craft was low enough while hovering that we could determine its metallic smooth black color and the lights that blinked in the center of the craft. The flying saucer was about the size of a commercial jet if you drew a circle around the wing span. Why this Space craft spent so much time going back and forth from my sister and me then to the west side and back I really can only guess that maybe they were just having a curious look. At the time, my daughter was only four years old, and I wasn't about to encourage an invite by these unknowns. I remember speaking to the craft and wondering if they really knew what we were saying. To this day I remember the incident vivid,y, as does my sister. Looking back, I feel blessed to have had an interaction with possible being from another planet. I know for sure it was not one of ours. This spaceship traveled at speeds that could have traversed our whole country in a matter of minutes. There were no cell phones in those days for which I regret. But I would definitely identify this type of craft easily. No sort of dome on top or bottom. A saucer.
