Bright orange circular object slowly moves across the sky

Orange circular object seeming quite close and large. Very bright. It moved eastward and then changed directions back to the west before appearing to pick up speed and gain altitude. The light dimmed and shortly disappeared. There was no sound whatsoever. It was a family camping trip in which the entire family watched the event unfold.
