This was years ago. I don't remember the exact time and location, but the description is as accurate as it gets.

It was while I was visiting a blueberry farm. (Farm land all around, rural area) I looked up at the sky to casually observe an airplane pass by, only to find that a grey circle (it was hard to notice, looked like metal that was reflecting sunlight) came up to the airplane.

The object then quickly swarmed and made sharp stops around the airplane left, right, behind, in front, and then eventually went back to following the airplane from behind.

The two continued to travel the same direction and speed until the object slowly faded and disappeared.

The sky was all clear, so clouds making the fade illusion is out of the question.
