Metallic object fell quickly out of sky at sharp trajectory. Could not determine shape. Appeared to move faster than terminal velocity

Friend noticed it before I did. It was still very brief, but very strange looking. It looked like a big space blanket. It didn't look like a bird, and it looked too large, although the way it fell reminded me of how a bird of prey nose dives when it hunts. It dove behind the background objects from our view. We aren't sure where it came from, just that it fell out of the sky. Date is precise. Time is +/- an hour or so.
