Powercut so pitch black, I noticed an orange glowing ball a bit like the sun. We had powercuts back in the 80s but this was hours long and different to the others. I remember as we had a gas cooker that the neighbours came to heat up water etc. My brother and I were out in the street playing 2 man hunt with approx 4 others, no street lights, only lights were the odd dog walker with a torch or passing car. I noticed the orb, (it was like the sun, bright and orange)at the end of the street above a friends house. It was so bright especially as it was pitch dark. The orb was just a bit higher than our houses, it followed the curve of the street, moved above our heads and continued over the houses in the next street.no sound, smell etc. I was so excited but others were terrified. I often wonder if it was the cause of the powercut. It was never reported in local media etc as my mum checked religiously.
